Teonna N. Cooksey

Treasurer

Teonna N. Cooksey is a dedicated architect and urban planner committed to addressing housing inequities and fostering community empowerment. She holds dual master's degrees in Architecture and Urban Planning from Columbia University, where her research focused on the intersections of housing, resiliency, community organizing, and health equity.


 As the outgoing Treasurer of Wisco NOMA, Teonna has been instrumental in advancing the organization's mission to promote diversity and inclusion within the architectural profession. Her notable project, the Women's Empowerment Network (WEN), aims to transform vacant properties into shared spaces that empower Black women, particularly single mothers, by providing opportunities for ownership and wealth-building.


Teonna's work has been recognized through various fellowships, including the Morgan Stanley Community Development Graduate Fellowship, where she collaborated with IMPACCT Brooklyn on small business services and economic development initiatives.


 Her dedication to creating equitable and sustainable communities continues to inspire and drive positive change within architecture and urban planning.
